Who is this guy?

Dustin Glaseman was raised north of Brandon, Manitoba, on hobby farms surrounded by wheat fields and wild spaces. A young naturalist, he recorded the migrations of birds with his mother and adopted an ocelot via a wild cats conservation program. Under star-filled prairie skies, he dreamt of being a zoologist and traveling the world with Jane Goodall. Instead, he moved to Winnipeg, completed a degree in Young People’s Texts and Cultures and a master’s in Cultural Studies.

In 2015, his wife Elizabeth bought him his first camera, a Nikon J2, just before their honeymoon in Costa Rica. The Osa Peninsula changed his life. Enamoured by the vast biodiversity of the forest, and the excitement of photographing wildlife, the seed of a new calling was planted.

Four years later, Dustin and Elizabeth traveled to Kruger National Park in South Africa and the seed planted in the rainforests of Costa Rica blossomed into a creative passion. While photographing the wildlife of Africa, Dustin realized that his love for animals, travel, and conservation could lead to a beautiful transformation of his childhood dream.

After finishing an education degree in 2019, Dustin decided to begin crafting his vision for a creative life. His wife, Elizabeth, and his family again gifted him a camera, this time a DSLR. Dustin joined a camera club and reduced his work hours to allow for daily creativity. Two years later, The Dusty Unknown was born.

Dustin also loves comic books, writes picture books, shares his life with two crazy frenchtons (Huck and Daisy), and has definitely been in the same room as Jane Goodall.
